Procters Luxury Coach Travel Riponian Stages Rally 2012
To the delight of numerous North Yorkshire motorsport enthusiasts, Ripon Motor Sport Club are pleased to announce that Procters Luxury Coach Travel will be sponsoring the RIPONIAN STAGES RALLY for a third consecutive year. Kevin Proctor being himself a two time winner of the event in 2004 and 2006 and the club are indebted to Kevin for his continued support.
The event will be held on its usual calendar slot of Sunday 19th February 2012 and is based at the superb facilities of Thirsk Auction Mart & Rural Business Centre. Once again this will form the hub of the event, with Rally HQ, scrutineering, documentation, start, main service and finish, all concentrated on the one convenient site just off the A19/A168 junction.
The main competitive sections of the event will however be taking place over timed sections in six forests on the western edge of the North York Moors National Park, between Thirsk and Helmsley, including one forest which has not been used for rallying for a number of years. Each forest Special Stage will be visted twice, where cars and crews will be challenging both the clock and each other to post the fastest times in each of five separate capacity classes plus a separate class for the ever popular historic category featuring cars from the sixties and seventies.
The Riponian comprises a round of several regional rally championships, including:
- Fuchs Titan Race ANCC Stage Rally Championship 2012,
- SG Petch ANECCC Stage Rally Championship,
- Road Runner Phoenix Awards ANEMMC Stage Rally Championship
(with Pantry Catering and Slicks Tyres),
- Competition Car Insurance EMAMC Multi-Venue Championship,
- Motoscope Northern Historic Rally Championship,
- ANWCC Historic Rally Championship,
- Just Ferries Yorkshire Winter Challenge *.
* In a further local competitor connection, proprietor of Just Ferries, Craig Thorley from York, is a multiple winning co-driver of the Riponian, in conjunction with Charlie Payne of Ripon based Paynes Dairies. The pairing’s last such victory being the 2011 event.
As an incentive to professional photographers attending the event, Ripon Motor Sport Club will use the best action photograph supplied to the club as its headline photograph on its web page for the 12 months following the rally with the photographer receiving full accreditation linked to his own website.
